Bennett H. Wall collection, 1817-1996.

The collection contains several personal effects of Bennett Wall, his notes on research and writing, his unpublished writings on the subject, his collection of notes, papers and research of other Goebel scholars and enthusiasts. Also included are Wall's collected primary sources; these include letters, correspondence, interviews and other era specific documents that are associated with Goebel's career, assassination and legacy. Important to this collection are the trial records of Caleb Powers, J.B. Matthews' papers, and assorted documents of Goebel's and those involved in the investigation of his assassination. Finally, this collection includes many images that Wall collected throughout his research of Goebel, Goebel's family members, the grave site and Old State Capitol. A note - the entire Bennett H. Wall Collection is approximately 40 cubic feet in size. Only the Goebel-related portion of this collection has been processed and is ready for public use. Materials will be added to additional series as they are processed.
