Elizabeth Leroy photograph collection [graphic]. [1888-1998]

Collection of original photographs, mostly of Elizabeth Brown Leroy from a small child to a portrait taken a year before her death. Most of the oldest prints are snapshots taken by family members. Included is Joe Brown's sod house (location unknown), the Diamond C Ranch, Lewis Brown hauling hay on his farm, Lewis and Alice Brown on front porch, Walter 'Bud' Leroy, Leroy home after the 1957 tornado in Fargo, and studio portrait of Robert and Agnes Rychner. Includes photographs of related families including Brown, Leroy, Keller, Kesling, and Fisher. The albums include snapshots of Elizabeth, her children, western North Dakota Ranch scenes, Dickinson State University, and no doubt extended family, neighbors and friends in the Killdeer, N.D. area.

Elizabeth Brown was born in Dunn County, N.D. where she grew up. She became a teacher and married Walter E. Leroy in 1933. The family moved to Fargo in 1942 where she raised four daughters, and she was employed at various businesses. She was a prolific writer and active in the North Dakota Peaceworkers.
