Clemence Dane letter and manuscript page, 1919-1924.

The collection consists of two items: ms. sheet of her working copy of her 1919 novel, Legend, undated, with extensive corrections and additions (with typescript excerpt from page 163 of the same page as published by Heinemann) and letter to Mr. Milne, responding to his inquiry about her working methods. The letter describes and explains her way of writing, using the excerpt and ms. from Legend as examples, and possibly dates from 1924, when Milne published a series of articles in Strand on the theme of how writers write.
