The collection includes various writings, personal correspondence, personal budget books, daily calendars, church bulletins and other printed materials from the St. James Episcopal church, and a list of books in his library. The writings include a journal of Louisa DobreeĢ (Hawtrey's grandmother), a paper on the history of the Episcopal Church, a paper on Thomas Crammer (16th century Archbishop of Canterbury), a report on a pre-release center for prisons prepared for the Governor's Committee on Penal Affairs (1960), various papers on religious topics and a number of sermons. The daily calendars are sketchy, providing few personal observations.
