Foote responds to a letter of admiration, thanking her for praise of her work, commenting on "The valley road" and "Edith Bonham," regretting a comment on President Wilson by one of her characters now that the U.S. was in World War I, describing her current life and next story, and suggesting that her recipient's life was altered by the Civil War.
