W.J. Turner postcards to his wife Delphine, 1912-1928.

A series of eleven postcards from Turner to his wife, Delphine, some 1912, others generally postmarked between 1922 and 1928. Written in Germany, Canada, France, Italy, and Monaco, the cards offer general news of his travels, sites he has seen, and music that he has heard. The postcards depict in photographs or illustrations specific sites, scenic locations, or local figures, such as the Nürnberg Madonna and Richard Wagner.

Turner was born in Melbourne where he attended Scotch College and theSchool of Mines. He travelled in Europe and South Africa, and served with the British army during World War I. By 1918 Turner had published two volumes of verse and became recognized as a member of the Georgian group ofwriters. Turner became literary editor of the London DAILY HERALD and THESPECTATOR.
