Letter, Aug. 12, 1862.

Letter to 19th century author Benson J. Lossing asking for a recommendation in helping to secure lecture engagements. Included a printed list of "testimonials" to his character, quotes from various political and newspaper people from New York and Illinois. Included a copy of his essay "Winter Scenes on the Nile" which he advised Lossing to burn after he read it.
