Photographs taken and collected by Mellen Chamberlain of historic homes and buildings in Chelsea, Mass., for his work "A Documentary History of Chelsea, 1624-1824" (1908). Some of the photographs also depict homes in Revere and Winthrop, Mass., which were originally a part of Chelsea. Most of the photographs have notes written on the verso in the hand of Mellen Chamberlain. Many of the photographs are cyanotype proofs taken by Chamberlain in Oct. 1891. The remaining photographers are unknown.
