Letter to L.J. Cist, 1842 May 15.

Lee responds to Cist's request for historical autographs. He once had manuscripts of his grandfather and great uncles which he used to compile their biographies after which he gave them to institutions including the University of Virginia and has only a few left though at one time he had letters from nearly every Signer. He will be glad to send Cist his remaining Jefferson and Lees. He does not know where Cist could obtain other Virginia Signers though Harrison's grandson's widow might have some which might be obtained from her father Thomas Ritchie. Lee's friend Samuel Adams Wells might have New England autographs.
