Oral history interview : Richard Cortis Green, Reed College, class of 1935 / interviewed by Christie Hedman, 1980, on May 18, 2002.

Richard Cortis Green attended a country school in Britain before his family moved to Portland, where he attended Reed College as a day-dodger. His name when he attended Reed was Richard Cortis Lawford. Interested in oceanographic work, he joined the Coast Guard after graduation, participating in convoy actions in the Atlantic against German submarines during World War II.
