Summary: Primarily photographs and photograph albums, taken from 1885 to 1940 with a few later snapshots, also one 1907 diary of David Herbst with brief entries about his health, and newspaper clippings. There are photographs of Percy Rider including a street photograph, and two images by D.F. Mitchell and Mitchell and Baer of Prescott. Images of Jane include several as a child, as a young woman, and as a much older woman including one taken by the Elite Studio of Tucson. There are images of Tucson's bell tower and the Manning house (f.24), a signed image of Charles Lindbergh's plane landing (f.29), a group of Red Cross women (f.7), World War I soldiers (f.13), snapshots of El Tovar Hotel and the Grand Canyon (f.16/17), a Christmas tree, 1897, (f.22), filming a western movie (f.23), and interiors of San Xavier Mission including a sign "Shrine of Our Lady of Victory, Vigil lights for our boys on land, on sea, in the air." There are photographs of National Youth Administration buildings, products and classrooms/shops (f.26/27). Photograph albums contain images of University of Arizona students, drama productions, and circus performers on parade, ca. 1900-1910; ranch images of a chuckwagon, camping, cowboys, golf in the desert, mohair goats, and horse-drawn freighters. Also present are cyanotypes of Rico, Colorado.
