In his memoir simply entitled "Military Service: 1941:1945" Draper shares experiences from his enlistment through his service in the Pacific Theater of World War II to his discharging and marriage shortly thereafter. Draper saw many of the major battles of the Marines in the Pacific, including Iwo Jima, Guadalcanal, Saipan, and Okinawa as a field cook and member of a Howitzer team.
