This memoir includes an edited typewritten biography of David Orin Dance, written from an oral interview, which outlines the experiences Dance had as he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. The biography includes details about his training, combat experiences, wounding, and recovery. Also included are two handwritten letters from Dance, a photocopied magazine page with a picture of the 81mm Mortar System that Dance's platoon operated, and a two page photocopied magazine article about Dance from New York Life's company magazine, "The Review," and a family picture from Dance's 50th wedding anniversary picturing him along with his wife and forty-one children and grandchildren.

Dance served in the US Army European Theater during World War II from 1943-1946 as part of the 76th Infantry Division and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a Commissioned Officer and served as a Platoon Leader of an Infantry Mortar Platoon.
