Record group 79-80 consists transcripts and some background information of investigations regarding the removal of Harry H. Jackson as warden at the State Prison of Southern Michigan. Jackson was found guilty of neglect of administrative duties and failure to discharge his official responsibilities as warden. One of the major abuses cited was lack of control. This includes cases where inmates left the facility unsupervised. Transcripts provide detailed testimony of these accounts from several sources including prison personnel and inmates. The Civil Service Commission, the Corrections Commission, and State Police conducted separate investigations, and some of their findings are contained in this record group.
