The first box in the collection contains material on Naushon, Pasque, Uncatena, Nonamessett, Nashawena, and Cuttyhunk; the second box contains material only on Penikese, chiefly concerning the Anderson School, the leprosarium, and the Penikese Island School. Material in both boxes is chiefly booklets, brochures, newsclippings, and many Xerox copies. There are copies of annual reports on the leprosarium, written by Dr. Frank H. Parker, for the Massachusetts State Board of Charity; original annual reports of the Penikese Island School; and pamphlets and newsletter of Cuttyhunk Historical Society.

Swiss-American zoologist and geologist. Professor of zoology and geology at Harvard University. Louis Agassiz was born in Môtier-en-Vuly, Switzerland. He studied at the universities of Zürich, Erlangen (Ph.D., 1829), Heidelberg, and Munich (M.D., 1830).
