Elias Boudinot (May 2, 1740 – October 24, 1821) was a lawyer and statesman from Elizabeth, New Jersey who was a delegate to the Continental Congress and served as President of Congress from 1782 to 1783. He was elected as a U.S. Congressman for New Jersey following the American Revolutionary War. Samuel Pennypacker -- governor, jurist and historian -- was born in Phoenixville and educated at the University of Pennsylvania where he studied law. He was called to the bar in 1868 and elected president of the Law Academy of Philadelphia. In 1889, he became judge of the Court of Common Pleas and remained in that post for 20 years.
