Papers, 1935-1942.

The collection consists of typescripts, correspondence, extracted periodical articles, and handwritten notes with some sketches (mostly pencil) primarily relating to the butterflies of Jamaica, where Avinoff made 6 collecting trips between 1925 and 1940. Other Jamaican fauna is mentioned peripherally. The remainder of the material concerns the patterns of butterfly wings and the study of pattern formation in general.
