Frank Hurburt O'Hara was born in 1888, Berrien Springs, Michigan to Thomas O'Hara and Mary Barratt O'Hara. He graduated from Chaffee-Noble School of Detroit in 1909, and completed post-graduate work there in 1911. O'Hara received a Ph.B. from the University of Chicago in 1915.
