Includes a paper entitled Deward, by Harley R. Dean, about the ghost town of Deward in Crawford County. Also includes an inspection of Michigan state forests (1914); mapping Michigan by airplane; a 1934 report on Munuscong Bay (formerly Dodge Brothers Munuscong Park); and a land use history report, a collection of township plats for Mackinaw, Ogemaw, Hardwood, Black Lake, Alpena, Higgins Lake, Fife Lake, Pigeon River, Au Sable, Presque Isle, and Houghton Lake forests.

The 1925 Clark-McNary Act expanded the provisions of 1911 Federal legislation creating the National Forest System (Weeks Law). It made it easier for the United States Department of Agriculture to buy land from those sellers whose property was located within the National Forest System.
