Contains a short story wherein Fife relates an experience where his mother had a strong feeling that his endangered ship would survive its ordeal, and appeared to him in a vision to comfort him. Also contains a letter written by Fife's wife describing her involvement in the war as a military nurse. Photographs show Leland and Dove in full military dress and together in their later years. Also included is a photograph of Leland's mother.

Leland Fife served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the aircraft carrier USS Nehenta. His wife, Dove Fife, served in the U.S. Army as a lieutenant in the Nurse Corps.
