Ronald Fillmore Banks was an associate professor of history at the University of Maine at Orono and a nationally-known authority on Maine history and U.S. federal Indian policy. He was born in 1934 in Bangor, Maine and died in 1979. He grew up in Camden, Maine and received his B.S. degree in Education in 1956 from Gorham State College and his M.A. and Ph.
