Papers of the Homans family of Englewood, New Jersey and New York, New York and the Simmons family of Boston, Mass., 1850-1939, consists of correspondence between Isaac Smith Homans, Jr. and Martha Simmons Homans while they were courting, 1860; and letters to and from various Homans and Simmons family members, including Isaac Smith Homans, Sarah Sheppard Homans, Sheppard Homans, Thomas Simmons, Bessie Simmons, Sarah Simmons, Mary Simmons, William Simmons, Nanie Homans, Charles S. Seeger, and Alan Seeger. Letters included descriptions of births and deaths; visits with friends and family; social engagements; visits to places such as Cincinnati, Ohio, Baltimore, Maryland, and New York, New York; church attendance; domestic activities; and the weather. Also includes newspaper clippings and printed materials pertaining to Alan Seeger, an American poet who volunteered with the French Foreign Legion and died in World War I; and papers pertaining to Homans and Simmons family genealogy.
