Wyman family photographs, ca. 1858-1981.

Photographs and negatives of the Wyman family, collected by Dorothy Churchill Wyman Martin. Loose photographs include formal and informal portraits of various Wyman, Churchill, and Martin family members, including the Boston wool merchant Franklin A. Wyman and his wife Mary Brewer Churchill Wyman, and photos of family homes. There are also photographs taken by Franklin A. Wyman of his travels to England and France in 1897 and of his honeymoon to Florida ca. 1898, as well as photographs taken by his daughter, the painter Dorothy Churchill Wyman Martin, while she was a student at the School of the Musuem of Fine Arts in Boston, Mass., ca. 1919-1923, among other subjects. The collection also contains six albums and scrapbooks belonging to Dorothy Churchill Wyman Martin. Subjects include photos of the Wyman family's travels across the American West and through California in 1924-1925; snapshots of various Wyman family members, including Dorothy Churchill Wyman Martin; family homes in Ashby, Ashmont, and Concord, Mass.; Dorothy Churchill Wyman Martin's art studies with the painter George Elmer Browne in Provincetown, Mass.; views of Boston, Mass.; and photos of her life and travels during her marriage to Robert C. Martin. Most of the photographs in these albums were taken by Dorothy Churchill Wyman Martin; some of the photos were also taken by Franklin A. Wyman. This collection includes film photonegatives, cartes de visite, and tintypes.
