ArchivalResource

Wilbur F. Creighton Jr. Collection, 1885-1985.

Includes two published items on the construction projects completed by the Foster & Creighton Company, which began in 1885 in Nashville, Tenn. Robert Thomas Creighton, one of the two original partners, supervised the construction of all the buildings of the Tennessee Centennial Exposition of 1897, including a replica of the Parthenon. The firm later constructed the permanent Parthenon that replaced the temporary structure built for the Centennial. The collection also includes a photograph of the Parthenon, and a photograph, a note card, and a photocopy of a photograph, all of which depict the scupting of the statue Athena inside the Parthenon by Alan LeQuire, in the 1980s. No items are dated but most probably date from the 1980s or the late 1970s.
