Unpublished manuscript of a lecture, "Answer to Ingersoll", given at Pickwick Hall in St. Louis, Mo. Discusses some of Ingersoll's comments, gives a historical perspective of religion and it's benefits to society along with some of the done in the name of religion. Discusses the bible as a guide and teacher, citing the "golden rule" as well as other verses that benefit society. Answers Ingersoll's references to the work of Paine, Humboldt and Darwin "from whom he gets the source and supply of his thought."
