Lion's Paw Senior Society, the oldest student leadership honorary dedicated to serving the University, was formally founded in 1908. In 1945 Lion's Paw alumni purchased 500 plus acres on Mount Nittany and in 1981 created the non-profit, tax-exempt organization, Mount Nittany Conservancy Incorporated, to keep Mount Nittany in its original natural state.
