Describes some military engagements and encounters with Mosby's men in Maryland. Discusses the campaign of 1864 and soldiers voting. Responds to news from home with comments about people and family. His letters are interesting and full of affection for Miss Eyster.

John Singleton Mosby (1833-1916) of Powhatan County, Va., was a lawyer and Confederate officer. Mosby was educated at the University of Virginia and worked as a lawyer in Washington County, Va., prior to the Civil War. In 1861, Mosby enlisted in the 1st Virginia Cavalry.
