Diary and photograph album, 1885 Oct.-1886 Mar.

This is a diary and photo album of Margaret Dodge from Oct. 1885 to Mar. 1886. The diary records the travels of Dodge from Moscow, Russia through Europe and return to New York. Dodge accompanied Edward Robinson Squibb and his daughter Mary, a close friend of Dodge's. Dodge was the fiance of Charles Squibb, son of Edward, who remained in the United States in charge of the Squibb pharmaceutical firm. Also in the touring part was a man identified as Knapp, who served as their personal travel guide. The diary is possibly vol. 2 as the party had left New York on Aug. 1, 1885 and apparently had visited some European countries before the first entry in this volume dated Oct. 18, 1885 in Moscow. The diary contains observations on Russia, Poland, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Belgium, France and England. The photo album contains photographs purchased of places visited and of the art work they viewed.
