Discusses his involvement with the LDS Church during training and in his combat theater. Lists his assignments and describes his transfer to England with his B-24 crew. Discusses his first and second bombing missions, the latter on which his plane was shot down, the crew bailed out, and was subsequently captured by German soldiers. Details Matheson's period of imprisonment in Stalag I, a German Prisoner-of-War camp in Barthe, Germany. Discusses the living conditions in the camp, treatment received at the hands of the German guards, and the prisoners' eventual liberation under the Soviet Army.
