Carolyne Doyle Richardson scrapbook, 1926.

Scrapbook contains personal photographs and ephemera of FSCW student Carolyne Doyle Richardson. Photos of faculty include Arthur Williams, William Dodd, Elizabeth Susan Doane, Chesley Martin Hutchings, Olivia Dorman, Edith Woodfin West, James Owen Knauss, Katherine Montgomery, Helen Margaret Ferree, Vivienne Robison McClatchy, and Herman Kurz. Photos of the Anna M. Hudson schooner and crew are also included, as well as activities at Camp Flastacowo and Lake Bradford. Pages 54, 55 and 63 contain ephemera related to University of Florida Summer School. The following programs to musical performances are included: "May Peterson, Prima Donna Soprano" (12/3/24), "Mischa Elman, violin recital" (3/10/26), "Alberto Salvi, the World's Greatest Harpist" (3/5/24), "Louis Graveure, Baritone" (1/26/25), "Ella Scoble Opperman, Twilight Organ Recital" (4/12/25), "Gracie Claude Flournoy, mezzo-contralto" (5/17/26).

According to Robin Sellers' Femina Perfecta, in 1914 members of the even-year classes of Florida State College for Women (juniors and freshmen) wore their green and yellow class colors to chapel on the Saturday morning before Thanksgiving. William George Dodd was born in Waynesville, Ohio, on April 9, 1874. He received his A.B. degree from Bethany College in 1893, and A.M. in 1908, and a Ph. D. in English Literature in 1911, both from Harvard University. He was appointed in 1910 as professor of English at Florida State College for Women, teaching classes mainly in Chaucer and Shakespeare. In 1913, he was appointed as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, a post which he held until his retirement in 1944. ...
