Edwin Allen Francis was born in La Junta, Colo. on March 7, 1905. A graduate of Denver's South High School, he received his architectural training at the Mass. Institute of Technology (MIT). Francis worked for J.B. Benedict and Harry James Manning before starting his own architectural practice in 1932.
