This interview focuses on the following topics in regard to Dr. Arcrivos: family background and early education in Cuba, moving to the United States to attend graduate school at the University of Minnesota, her relationship with her spouse and the impact of being in a 2-career marriage (and since 1988, a commuter marriage between California and New York), the students Dr. Acrivos has mentored and her teaching, conducting research and locating funding, experiences in the field, and attaining tenure in academia.

Acrivos, J.V., 1928-

Juana (Jennie) Vivo Acrivos, a native of Cuba, received her B.S. (1951) in chemical physics from the Universidad de la Habana and her Ph. D (1956) in Chemistry with a Mathematics minor from the University of Minnesota. Her academic positions include Lecturer (1961) at the University of Minnesota; Assistant Professor (1963-1967); Associate Professor (1967-1972); Full Professor (1972-2000); and Emeritus Professor (2000- ) at San Jose State University, California.
