Minerva (Ship : 1800-1816) logbook, 1802-1805.

The logbook of the ship Minerva details a shipping voyage from Salem, Mass., to Sumatra, Bordeaux, and Reunion, Nov. 1802-March 1805. The ship's home port was Salem; the owner was George Crowninshield & Sons; the master was Richard Ward Jr. The logbook includes ship's accounts and inventories of the cargo; equipment and supplies, specifically provisions, aboard ship; an episode of disorderly conduct among the merchant mariners on board; and notes on shipboard occupations. During its voyage, the Minerva spoke the ships Actress and Huron (both out of New York), Astrea (out of Boston), Boston (out of Nantucket), Horace (out of Salem), and Monticello (out of Philadelphia), and the schooner Nancy (out of New Haven).
