Waterloo Recreation Area, records and photographs, 1933-1978 1933-1940.

Record group 96-245 consists of records and photographs of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Parks Division (and its predecessor, the Department of Conservation). The records consist of Waterloo Recreation Area documentation for the years 1933-1972 (bulk of material is 1933-1940). Includes reports, maps and charts documenting the development of the Area. The records cover plans for land acquisition, wildlife management, and the building of recreational facilities. Includes six maps of the area dated 1935. Reproductions of the survey notes of the Stockbridge Quadrangle and of the U.S. Coast Guard and geodetic survey of Jackson County (i.e. surveys that encompass the Waterloo Recreation Area) are also found, as well as published and unpublished histories of the area, dating 1939-1972. The photographs in the record group date from 1935-1978 (bulk of photographs date 1937-1939). These are mostly black and white prints showing camps, lakes, ponds and forests.
