Series 3 of record group 85-26 consists of records of discussion meetings of the Michigan Natural Resources Commission for the years 1977-1980. These meetings, originally called philosophical or discussion sessions, were commenced around 1975. Unlike the standard Commission meetings, these gatherings last for just one day and sometimes focus on a single issue. While these sessions were open to the public, they are not tape recorded like the more formal conferences were. The records created by these "brainstorming" meetings include agenda, minutes, correspondence, memoranda, reports, and notes. Records relate to such issues as land use, wildlife management, mineral exploration, general conservation, property acquisition, environmental preservation, and pollution abatement.
