Record group 82-34 consists of subject files of the Recreation Services Division of the Michigan Department of Conservation (and its successor, the Department of Natural Resources) for the years 1955-1976. Contains correspondence, publications, reports, maps and newspaper clippings. All records relate to recreation. There are many project reviews concerning the development of parks throughout the state. Contracts and leases are also included. Some records include material from the Great Lakes Basin Commission. This commission deals with the lake levels, land use around the lakes, and the recreational use of the lakes. Also included are records from the Land and Water Division, an office responsible for the financial aspects of land and water use programs. Also included are materials from various workshops held by recreation services.
