Sol Boyk received his Bachelor of Science from the University of of Toledo in 1935. He received his Ph.D. from Purdue University. Sol Boyk was a faculty member at Purdue until 1948. He then returned to Toledo and became President and Research Director of the Ottawa Chemical Company. The company researched organic chemicals, and it prospered under Sol Boyk's guidance.
