Markers and monuments, Marble marker [graphic] / Ernie Deane [photographer]. [196-?]

Negative taken of a historical marker in Newton County, Arkansas. The marker commemorates the Arkansas marble in the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C. The marble was mined from near this marker by Peter Beller and three Harp brothers in 1836. The Washington Monument consists of marble donated from around the world. The marker was erected in 1954 by the Newton County History Society, including W.F. Lackey, president, and Wanda Hickman, secretary. Deane more than likely took these negatives during his career with the Arkansas Gazette.

1 negative : b&w ; 6 x 6 cm. (2 x 2 in.)
