Friendship (Ship) logbook, 1799-1800.

The logbook of the ship Friendship details a shipping voyage from Hamburg to Salem, Mass., the West Indies, Venezuela, Cadiz, and Cape Ann, Mass., June 1799-May 1800. The logbook begins halfway between Hamburg and Salem. The ship's home port was Salem; the owner was the firm of Waite & Peirce; the master was Israel Williams. The logbook includes notes on shipboard occupations; at least one death; and punishment of the merchant mariners on board. During its voyage, the Friendship spoke the brigantines Aurora (out of Plymouth) and Fly (out of Baltimore); the schooner Fame and the ship Nancy Hollowell, both out of Kennebunk (Maine).
