Papers of Thomas Goddard Frothingham family, 1637-1963, consist of copies of papers, 1637-1799, of Rev. Samuel Whiting of Lynn, Mass., other Whiting family members, and papers pertaining to Charlestown, Mass. Contains papers of historian Thomas G. Frothingham, including materials pertaining to his patent for "shot," letters written home from Camp Pike, Arkansas, during World War I, a World War I scrapbook, and papers and correspondence with Newton D. Baker, Hilaire Belloc, and Charles Francis Adams related to his historical writings on World War I. Also contains original manuscripts consisting of papers of Goddard, Frothingham, and Whiting families including 19th century papers of Samuel Whiting, town clerk of Billerica, Mass.; Henry K. Frothingham's penmanship copybooks, 1818-20; correspondence of historian Richard Frothingham, Jr., and Charlestown physician John S. Whiting; Eleanor F. Whiting Frothingham's scrapbook and correspondence with her brother Jasper Whiting, 1880-95; Mary Frothingham common-place book for 1832; diary kept by Ebenezer Barker of Charlestown, 1852-53; and a scrapbook of materials related to Thomas A. Goddard, Richard Frothingham, Jr., and Thomas G. Frothingham, Sr.
