On Monday, March 7, 1960, in the historic Elkhorn Tavern, Governor Orval Faubus handed the deed to the military park at Pea Ridge, Benton County, Arkansas, to Conrad L. Wirth, director of the National Park Service. The park is now named Pea Ridge National Military Park. George H. Benjamin of Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas talks with unidentified man. The ceremony was held at the Pea Ridge gymnasium in Benton County, Arkansas.
