Series 86 of record group 58-17 consists of a traced copy of a map (copy 1884, original map drawn in 1828) of Michillimackinac Island (now known as Mackinac Island), showing the surveys of private claims, as drawn by J. Mullett. The map was originally filed in the Surveyor General's Office on January 9, 1829. The copy was authenticated by the Department of the Interior, General Land Office in 1884 as the "traced copy of the map of Michillimackinac Island, Michigan, is a true and literal exemplication of the official map on file in this office." The certificate accompanying the copy provides names, patent certificate number and date. The map is 25 1/4" x 21" in size, with a scale of 10 chns. : 1 inch.
