Negative taken for May 15, 1959, Arkansas Gazette article "LRAFB Test Subjects 'Get High' Without Leaving Ground," B1:2. Airmen at the Little Rock Air Force Base in Jacksonville, Pulaski County, Arkansas must go through classroom work and physiological training in order to become jet airplane pilots. A low pressure chamber simulates the conditions that pilots will encounter at eight miles high in the atmosphere. The chamber is thirty feet long by ten feet wide by seven-and-a-half feet tall. Master Sergeant William Koenig, in charge of the chamber, checks equipment of a dummy that is used to illustrate effects of lack of oxygen on the human body.
