Alta California manuscripts : 1764-1797. 1764-1797.

Includes handwritten correspondence between missionaries and government officials regarding presidios and Franciscan missions of Upper California. Correspondence centers on decisions regarding mission affairs such as budgeting issues and governing, and the establishment of new missions at various locations throughout California. Four of the forty-two manuscripts in the box are not correspondence. Manuscripts 29 and 30 are summaries of matters at the mission at Monterey (Mission San Carlos Borromeo). Manuscript 13 is Viceroy Bucareli's decision to about the new mission in San Francisco (Mission San Francisco de Asʹis), and manuscript 39 is a report on one of the missions for the year 1779.
