Friendship (Ship) logbook, 1799-1800.

The logbook of the ship Friendship details a shipping voyage from Hamburg to Salem, Mass., La Guaira, Venezuela, and Cadiz, plus another, incomplete voyage from Salem to London, May 1799-Sept. 1800. The ship's owners were Waite & Peirce; the master and logbook keeper was Israel Williams. The ship's home port was Salem. The logbook includes illustrations (profile views) and equipment and supplies, specifically provisions. During its voyages, the Friendship spoke the brigs Aurora, Essex (out of Salem), Fly (out of Baltimore), Juno (out of Portland, Me.), and Union (out of Newburyport, Mass.?); the schooners Centurion, Olive (out of Duxbury, Mass.), and Volunt (out of Marblehead, Mass.); the ships Maria (out of Philadelphia) and Nancy (out of Hallowell, Me.); and the vessel Galen (rigging unknown, out of Boston).
