Friendship (Ship) logbook, 1797-1799.

The logbook of the ship Friendship details a shipping voyage from Salem, Mass., to Jakarta (Batavia), Portland, Me., and Hamburg, Aug. 1797-June 1799. The voyage continues in Log 1798F. The ship's owners were Waite & Peirce; the master was Israel Williams. The ship's home port was Salem. The logbook includes illustrations (profile views). During its voyage, the Friendship spoke the ships Ganges (out of New York) and Orion (out of Boston); the schooner Lark; and the sloop Maria (out of New York).
