Scrapbook from the Baptist Orphanage of Virginia, 1910-1919.

The scrapbook, compiled at the Baptist Orphanage of Virginia in Salem contains clippings of articles pertaining to the school and its personalities, many of which were written by Sallie Burnley Trevillian. Several clippings of travel articles by Trevillian are included. Of interest is a clipping regarding the annual convention of the German Baptists (Dunkards) at Hanging Rock near Salem together with two photographs of the participants. There is also a clipping regarding a local woman, Martha Hutcherson of Franklin County, together with a photograph of her knitting and smoking her pipe.
