Minutes, 1891-1922, include reports on activities, elections, political activities, problems and social activities. Numerous references to Belleville businesses and the different locals in the city. Correspondence, 1899-1920, includes much related to the Belleville Shoe Company and includes letters from John Tobin, president of the International Boot and Shoe Workers Union and Samuel Gompers. Letters regarding Bell Telephone strike in 1913. There is correspondence regarding the Prohibition Bill of 1914, the Clayton Bill and in 1915 and 1916 a number of letters re: the restriction of immigration, Illinois workman's compensation and the woman's nine hour day. Letters re: problems in locals in Belleville and around the state. There are letters from J.H. Walker, Agnes Nestor and Anna Fitzgerald. Newsletters and correspondence regarding strikes in Calumet, Michigan, Ludlow, Colorado and the murder trial of Carl E. Persons. Numerous newsletters for Samuel Gompers. Also includes the minutes of the Belleville Union Label League, 1921-1951.
