In 1968 NDSU student Ardith M. Braaten conducted a series of interviews that were recorded on reel-to-reel tape with mostly women living in the Red River Valley regarding food during the pioneer period. Includes interviews with Annetta Braaten, Lydia Holstad, Sarah Christianson, Evelyn Gesell, Ada Gunkelman, Anne Hemmet, Mildred Heifort, Martha Hektner, Harry Howland, Bertine Kjonaas, Betty Braaten, Josephine Mortenson, Clara Nymon, Harry Ostby and Olda Ostern.
