Also discusses the contact he maintained with his family and the LDS Church throughout his military service. Includes an account of his ship being attacked by Japanese fighters during his transfer to New Guinea. Describes the tropical living conditions, entertainment provided for the soldiers, and his tiring of constant moving and relocating.
